Making Surah Memorisation Learning Fun: Learning Stations for Young Learners
Memorising short surahs does not always have to mean sitting down and repeating the same verses. For young learners, learning stations can make Qur’an memorisation more active, engaging, and enjoyable.
Our Learning Stations resource brings together different activities that allow children to interact with surahs in several ways — through reading, listening, tracing, recognising, arranging, and understanding.
🌟 Station 1: Read & Re-arrange
Give children a set of verses and challenge them to read and arrange the verses in the correct order. This encourages them to recall the sequence of the surah while strengthening their Arabic reading skills.
✏️ Station 2: Trace the Surah
Tracing gives children an opportunity to look closely at the Arabic words while practising their writing.
👂 Station 3: Listen & Find
Turn memorisation into a listening game! Read or recite selected words from a surah and let children listen carefully and identify the words.
💡 Station 4: Understand the Meaning
Memorisation becomes more meaningful when children begin connecting the verses with their meanings.
🎯 Station 5: Mix, Move & Recite
You can turn the worksheets into an interactive classroom activity. Place different tasks around the room and let children rotate between stations:

Each station gives children a different way to revisit the same surah without making the learning feel repetitive.
For M.E.T Prep learners aged 4–6, this approach provides valuable exposure to Qur’anic learning through oral, visual, written, and hands-on activities. It also gives children opportunities to practise the same surah in different ways — helping build familiarity and confidence before they move towards more independent learning in Primary 1.
